Job Title: Avionics Engineer

Duties:
System design, requirements flow down, & partitioning
– Integrated systems
– Control system implementation, latency analyses
– Redundancy & vehicle health management
– Interface specification & coordination
Specification generation & supplier management
Interface and control definition and coordination for flight controls, propulsion, propellant management, pressurization, attitude control, navigation, communication, instrumentation, and other launch vehicle systems.
Interface and control definition and coordination for launch vehicle ground processing automation systems.
System software development and test
Wind River Tornado / VxWorks (or similar) experience
System integration and testing
Processor, hardware, vehicle in the loop test environment design, integration, and test.


Desired Skills / Work Experience:

Minimum of a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or related degree.
Familiarity with VME and cPCI hardware, shared memory and data bus implementations, launch vehicle command and control systems, mission planning systems.
Familiarity with launch vehicle (or similar) flight control, navigation, communications (i.e. avionics) as well as interfacing equipment implementations.
Full avionics life cycle development experience for real time vehicle application.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project and similar office automation tools.
The individual must be a motivated self-starter with good written and oral communication skills, and willing to learn and expand their capabilities to support the breadth of USL products.
